چکیده
This research presents the implementation of the FiniteDifference Time-Domain (FDTD) method for the solution of 3dimensional electromagnetic problems in dispersive media using Graphics Processor Units (GPUs). By using the newly introduced CUDA technology, we illustrate the efficacy of GPUs in accelerating the FDTD computations by achieving appreciable speedup factors with great ease and at no extra hardware/software cost. We validate our approach by comparing the results with their corresponding simulated results obtained from Remcom’s XFDTD software.

A Higher Order B-Splines 1-D Finite Element Analysis of Lossy Dispersive Inhomogeneous Planar Layers
In this paper we propose an accurate and fast numerical method to obtain scattering fields from lossy dispersive inhomogeneous planar layers for both TE and TM polarizations. A new method is introduced to analyze lossy Inhomogeneous Planar Layers. In this method by applying spline based Galerkin’s method of moment to scalar wave equation and imposing boundary conditions we obtain reflection and...
متن کاملNew derived finite-difference frequency-domain method used for band structure analysis of 2-D EBG structure composed of Drude-type dispersive media
Electromagnetic wave properties in metamaterials including electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures have been widely investigated due to their inherent capabilities for developing novel devices in the fields of optics, microwave and antenna engineering. In reality, most of the materials are dispersive or frequency-dependent, on the other hand, it is important to investigate how the performance...
متن کامل3 Applications of the wave packet method to resonant transmission and reflection gratings
Scattering of femtosecond laser pulses on resonant transmission and reflection gratings made of dispersive (Drude metals) and dielectric materials is studied by a time-domain numerical algorithm for Maxwell’s theory of linear passive (dispersive and absorbing) media. The algorithm is based on the Hamiltonian formalism in the framework of which Maxwell’s equations for passive media are shown to ...

متن کاملFinite-difference time-domain simulation of ground penetrating radar on dispersive, inhomogeneous, and conductive soils
A three-dimensional (3-D) time-domain numerical scheme for simulation of ground penetrating radar (GPR) on dispersive and inhomogeneous soils with conductive loss is described. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to discretize the partial differential equations for time stepping of the electromagnetic fields. The soil dispersion is modeled by multiterm Lorentz and/or Debye m...
